Interview conducted by Alan Cherry as part of the LDS Afro-American Oral History Project of the Charles Redd Center for Western Studies at Brigham Young University on 1 March 1988. Preston talks about his early life in West Virginia and his move to Chicago, Illinois. He describes his courtship, his marriage, his early married life, his wife's conversion to the Mormon Church, and his own experiences as a Mormon. He comments on what he sees as discrimination in that Church.
